It started snowing at some pointing the afternoon. We didn't get much, maybe about an inch, but we did get lots of freezing fog. I ran the snow program in hopes it would clear the roof. Wind reached 40mph in the early evening. There was no hope of opening so I parked the dome south and called it quits at 4am. In short, we got snow for Christmas!! :D And no one got their sky time :( But let me tell you a story of what could have happened if it didn’t snow… 'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the halls Not a student was stirring, not even Rachel; The ping-pong was hung on the table with care, In hopes that Doctor Churchill soon would be there; The first years were nestled all snug in their beds; While visions of NASA funds danced in their heads; With blanket on the floor, sat I in my cap, Had just settled myself for a short A-half nap, When out from the Mac there arose such a clatter, I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter. Away to the keyboard I flew like a flash, Tore open the TUI and drew up a bash. The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow, Gave a lustre of midday to objects below, When what to my wondering eyes did appear, To an exhausted Gray were eight students in fear, "Where's our little old teacher, we want to use DIS, We are here and ready but where is Prof Chris?" More rapid than eagles his students they came, And I messaged, and logged them, and called them by name: "Now Roger! now Farhan!, now Niki and Rachael! On Kacprzak, on Evans, on Bryson, no Churchill??" Is he out on the porch! Did you give him a call? Well slew away! slew away! slew away all!" As long as you listen you can learn on the fly "Well he gave us these instructions, mount to the sky;" So up to the standards the students they flew With a list full of stars, and some galaxies too- And then, in a calling, I heard on the phone The coughing and clearing of a sleepy man’s groan As I face-palmed my head, and did loudly expound, "On the TUI Prof Churchill, log on right now!" He was pressed all in sleep, from his head to his foot, And his clothes were all crumpled where ever he put; A bundle of sighs he did roll on his back, And he shook like a shredder by snoring with knack His eyes - how they crinkled! the motion did vary! His cheeks were like roses, did he nip some sherry? The drool on his mouth was drawn up like a bow, And the beard on his chin was as white as the snow; The clump of a cake was stuck right in his teeth, And the crumbs, it encircled his head like a wreath; He had a long day with reviews all aplenty, They took all he had, and his brain was just jelly, He was tired and slump, a right folly for health, And I laughed when I heard him, in spite of myself; The sink of his sigh and a twist in his bed, Soon gave me to know he had reviews to dread; He spoke not a word, and I scoffed with a smirk, We stopped all the laughing; then turned to our work And giving permission, up the star field they rose, We slewed through his list, and his team did not bristle Though away we all jabbed like the points of a thistle! But I heard him mumble, ere he hung up the phone- "Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good niiiiiiiiight….." ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
