Seeing, I mean, all things considered, was pretty good at the start of the night. But then clouds rolled in, making observing very difficult for our first visiting group. But they had enough short targets to make life very hectic for their half! The clouds blew away and the seeing blew up. It reached as high as 4" at one point. Thankfully, the wind finally started shifting and seeing improved by 3am so our second visiting group was able to get some good data. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:06 arctic 466( 412) -54 28 -2.2 -0.7 -0.8 -1.1 -2.1 JC-V 1.28 18:16 arctic 463( 400) -56 26 -2.1 -0.9 -1.0 -1.4 -2.2 JC-R 1.21 20:47 arctic 459( 291) -76 36 -2.7 -2.9 -2.3 -3.0 -2.8 JC-I 2.35 23:22 arctic 484( 271) -7 51 -4.2 -3.6 -3.0 -3.7 -3.9 JC-I 1.22 00:36 dcamera 340( -131) 131 75 -5.1 -5.0 -4.3 -5.2 -5.2 -- 3.44 01:44 dcamera 371( -125) 115 69 -5.4 -5.6 -4.9 -5.6 -5.6 -- 2.68 02:39 dcamera 484( 15) 174 75 -3.8 -4.9 -4.4 -4.7 -4.0 -- 2.05 06:00 APOLLO 500( 967) 32 40 -1.4 -3.1 -2.7 -3.0 -2.1 530 1.40 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 30 -11 11 136 (SE) 29 mstly clr none 17:00 29 -15 16 145 (SE) 19 mstly clr none 18:00 28 -17 17 156 (SSE) 32 ptly cldy none 19:00 28 -19 18 160 (SSE) 21 mstly cldy none 20:00 28 -19 17 156 (SSE) 10 ptly cldy none 21:00 27 -18 20 154 (SSE) 15 mstly clr none 22:00 27 -17 20 163 (SSE) 20 clear none 23:00 26 -19 17 168 (SSE) 15 clear none 00:00 24 -22 22 137 (SE) 25 clear none 01:00 23 -21 23 136 (SE) 36 clear none 02:00 23 -1 19 166 (SSE) 234 clear none 03:00 26 8 14 183 (S) 213 clear none 04:00 28 14 11 181 (S) 298 clear none 05:00 28 18 8 181 (S) 586 clear none 06:00 30 18 9 184 (S) 475 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
