It was anticipated to be clear, though windy. Well, one of those things was correct. It was too windy to open (gusting near 40mph) at sunset but things calmed down slightly around 19:00, which is when the clouds rolled in. CU01 was able to get some exposures before everything went opaque. Then the winds kicked back up. We closed at 20:15 and the rest of the night looked hopeless. For fun, we lost power shortly after midnight but we were only on generator power for about 10min. Then, at 5:00am, everything cleared!! And we had subarcescond seeing! ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:25 arctic 504( 616) 213 70 2.4 3.5 3.6 3.4 2.6 sdss-r 1.88 05:03 tcamera 385( 222) 173 68 -4.9 -3.4 -2.6 -3.8 -4.7 Ks 0.94 06:17 tcamera 657( 400) 221 35 -6.5 -5.9 -5.0 -6.1 -6.2 Ks 2.17 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 40 21 24 260 (W) 416 clear none 17:00 38 22 27 257 (WSW) 367 clear none 18:00 36 24 21 261 (W) 409 ptly cldy none 19:00 36 24 17 266 (W) 344 mstly cldy none 20:00 36 24 20 262 (W) 302 ptly cldy none 21:00 35 22 32 265 (W) 312 mstly cldy none 22:00 32 22 21 268 (W) 450 cloudy none 23:00 30 22 28 268 (W) 758 cloudy none 00:00 29 20 39 273 (W) 356 cloudy none 01:00 28 17 22 269 (W) 415 cloudy none 02:00 27 17 20 283 (WNW) 452 cloudy none 03:00 26 17 13 274 (W) 433 cloudy none 04:00 24 14 17 278 (W) 478 mstly cldy none 05:00 23 12 14 276 (W) 658 mstly clr none 06:00 21 10 8 316 (NW) 438 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
