The best of all holidays! Now, I was told by the professor of our CU visiting class that, because I had to work my favorite night, everyone would dress up in costumes and we'd have a ghoulishly creepy Halloween observing party. After prepping for nearly 2 hours (hair, makeup, costume), I walked into a conference room full of...regular students. No costumes. No masks. No nothing. The prof had not informed the students of the deal! I was made to work my favorite night under false pretenses!! Setting this ultimate betrayal aside, we had a great night! A cloudless and nearly moonless All Hallows' Eve with good seeing and no wind. While no one dressed up in costumes, the students were still allowed to go trick or treating around the dome floor, visiting nearly every instrument. With the help of many cups of coffee and fun sized candies we were able to make it until dawn, though we had turned into zombies by the end. No problems tonight ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 01:22 arctic 456( 226) 74 29 -3.2 -4.4 -3.8 -4.2 -3.5 3500 2.36 18:33 arctic 383( 548) 73 67 3.7 4.6 4.2 4.7 3.3 3500 1.15 22:42 arctic 464( 475) -53 55 1.2 1.2 2.1 1.2 1.2 JC-V 1.12 00:16 ecamera 372( -736) -36 31 0.6 0.4 1.2 0.3 0.5 ND5 0.87 01:51 dcamera 407( 151) 164 69 0.2 -0.4 0.1 -1.0 -0.4 -- 1.44 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 44 -2 4 254 (WSW) clear none 17:00 40 -5 3 245 (WSW) clear none 18:00 37 -9 1 232 (SW) clear none 19:00 39 -6 3 251 (WSW) clear none 20:00 37 -9 6 259 (W) clear none 21:00 37 -8 7 272 (W) clear none 22:00 37 -8 6 263 (W) clear none 23:00 36 -8 6 257 (WSW) clear none 00:00 34 21 7 283 (WNW) clear none 01:00 33 20 4 256 (WSW) clear none 02:00 33 20 5 269 (W) clear none 03:00 34 14 9 295 (WNW) clear none 04:00 37 -2 8 278 (W) clear none 05:00 39 -7 8 286 (WNW) clear none 06:00 37 -6 8 306 (NW) clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
