Winds died down around 20:00 but seeing got bad, despite the winds not being from the east. Winds came back around 22:00 but not high enough to close. Unfortunately for David's program, the winds shifted west, and we were pointing directly into it. This caused problems with tracking. We finally had to turn away from Uranus, as we were pointing directly into 30mph gusts. We returned to the west around 04:00 after gusts had fallen under 20mph. No problems after that. We were open all night. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:45 dcamera 827( 959) 86 69 6.6 7.8 7.0 7.7 6.8 - 1.25 19:56 dcamera 458( 558) 138 33 6.3 6.6 6.7 6.3 6.2 - 2.24 01:44 tcamera 476( 687) 246 45 4.1 4.2 4.8 4.2 4.1 - 1.18 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 47 24 15 242 (WSW) 435 mstly clr none 17:00 47 25 25 234 (SW) 793 mstly clr none 18:00 45 21 26 231 (SW) 489 mstly clr none 19:00 45 18 18 228 (SW) 277 clear none 20:00 44 18 30 240 (WSW) 241 clear none 21:00 43 18 17 242 (WSW) 199 clear none 22:00 43 16 23 260 (W) 165 clear none 23:00 42 15 25 264 (W) 201 clear none 00:00 41 15 22 260 (W) 181 clear none 01:00 40 14 17 258 (WSW) 219 clear none 02:00 39 14 19 260 (W) 173 clear none 03:00 37 14 17 257 (WSW) 180 clear none 04:00 36 15 15 267 (W) 189 clear none 05:00 35 15 20 248 (WSW) clear none 06:00 34 15 23 242 (WSW) 199 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
