Eventually the wind forced me to close, but not before a lot was accomplished. Tasks for tonight: DIS red checkout (looks good!) Echelle exposure time calculator observations ARCTIC throughput ARCTIC shutter tests Shack-Hartmann collimation check (no change) Pointing model (very small change) Pickup science with Agile (guiding worked fine) There were some problems with the echelle shutter (I think - this probably explains the problem Candace had yesterday with flats in the morning) and also one failure of the ARCTIC shutter. But the problems were not repeating consistently - they might be cold-related, or might be just intermittent. That will make them harder to diagnose, so we will all need to be alert in case they show up again. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:17 ecamera 702( -687) 209 53 -5.2 -4.8 -4.5 -5.0 -4.9 ND4 1.10 21:46 arctic 821( 451) 313 47 -3.9 -4.5 -4.0 -4.4 -3.8 r 1.33 01:27 guider 571( 195) 34 72 -3.6 -4.3 -3.8 -4.2 -3.9 B 1.56 04:24 AGILE 875(-1726) 49 53 -4.5 -5.0 -4.5 -5.0 -4.6 BG40 1.96 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 27 1 4 264 (W) 108 clear none 17:00 23 1 2 286 (WNW) 77 clear none 18:00 22 2 15 318 (NW) 54 clear none 19:00 23 4 13 338 (NNW) 60 clear none 20:00 23 3 16 318 (NW) 104 clear none 21:00 25 4 15 330 (NNW) 122 clear none 22:00 26 5 9 286 (WNW) 116 clear none 23:00 25 5 3 346 (NNW) 106 clear none 00:00 25 6 12 333 (NNW) 93 clear none 01:00 25 6 14 351 (N) 90 clear none 02:00 26 7 16 27 (NNE) 66 clear none 03:00 24 7 6 10 (N) 102 clear none 04:00 23 7 17 18 (NNE) 90 clear none 05:00 24 6 29 1 (N) 86 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
