But...that didn't last too long. We closed again at 20:25 when the winds started gusting to over 40mph and remained closed until 23:50. While the wind had then died down, the clouds starting coming in so thick that you couldn't see the moon. Poor GS02 was nearly weathered out again but the winds, humidity, and clouds all dissipated about an hour before sunrise and we were able to get some photons. But holy cow did it get cold! time bcam bpump rcam rpump 16:30 3.25e-6 1.3e-7 1.11e-6 3.8e-8 00:30 3.13e-6 1.5e-7 7.30e-7 1.7e-8 07:00 2.88e-6 3.0e-7 3.73e-7 1.0e-8 No problems tonight --------- For all of you lads and lasses out there that aren't aware, Friday is Robbie Burns’ birthday, otherwise known as Burns Night! To celebrate Burns, Scotland, and my Scottish heritage, let's theme this shift to Burns poetry! Winter: A Dirge The wintry west extends his blast, And hail and rain does blaw; Or the stormy north sends driving forth The blinding sleet and snaw: While, tumbling brown, the burn comes down, And roars frae bank to brae; And bird and beast in covert rest, And pass the heartless day. "The sweeping blast, the sky o'ercast," The joyless winter day Let others fear, to me more dear Than all the pride of May: The tempest's howl, it soothes my soul, My griefs it seems to join; The leafless trees my fancy please, Their fate resembles mine! Thou Power Supreme, whose mighty scheme These woes of mine fulfil, Here firm I rest; they must be best, Because they are Thy will! Then all I want - O do Thou grant This one request of mine! - Since to enjoy Thou dost deny, Assist me to resign. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 17:49 ecamera 871( 20) 137 61 5.1 5.9 5.5 5.8 5.4 ND2 2.33 19:26 ecamera 730( -193) 194 49 4.2 4.3 4.8 4.2 4.1 ND2 2.00 23:56 ecamera 560( -524) 157 51 -1.0 1.1 2.0 1.2 -0.4 ND2 2.37 00:16 NICFPS 720( 949) 57 40 -1.8 0.2 1.1 -0.2 -1.4 MK-H 1.85 05:42 ecamera 766( -580) 234 71 -6.2 -3.7 -2.2 -3.9 -5.2 clear 2.20 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 50 2 11 270 (W) 11 mstly cldy none 17:00 47 0 13 287 (WNW) 7 mstly cldy none 18:00 47 0 16 289 (WNW) 3 mstly cldy none 19:00 49 1 12 278 (W) 5 mstly cldy none 20:00 41 5 10 206 (SSW) 11 mstly cldy none 21:00 40 6 9 215 (SW) 13 mstly cldy none 22:00 42 5 13 246 (WSW) 10 ptly cldy none 23:00 41 5 6 217 (SW) 32 clear none 00:00 41 8 15 239 (WSW) 99 mstly clr none 01:00 41 6 19 263 (W) 85 cloudy humid 02:00 40 7 19 244 (WSW) 119 cloudy humid 03:00 39 9 18 257 (WSW) 194 cloudy humid 04:00 38 11 25 236 (SW) 225 cloudy humid 05:00 39 12 28 281 (W) 184 mstly cldy humid 06:00 38 13 23 267 (W) 223 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
