Tonight, however, the humidity didn't drop. A fog bank sat just a few hundred yards east of the observatory, and the wind blowing from that direction brought little sprinkles down on the cloudcam when we tried to open it briefly. So we waited, and waited some more, until finally the wind eased off and the fog bank withdrew and the humidity went down and stayed down, so we were able to open! For all of an hour, and then the humidity came back up again. I pushed a little at that point, but when fog started streaming overhead it was time to close. The sensor recorded in the weather log below is the one that's still frozen over, so it doesn't represent the craziness of the actual moisture in the air. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 02:38 tcamera 700( 1047) 51 64 8.3 8.8 10.8 8.4 8.9 Ks 1.79 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 52 31 21 70 (ENE) mstly cldy humid 17:00 51 31 20 66 (ENE) mstly cldy humid 18:00 50 31 26 72 (ENE) mstly cldy humid 19:00 49 31 28 75 (ENE) ptly cldy humid 20:00 48 31 23 64 (ENE) mstly clr humid 21:00 47 31 30 78 (ENE) mstly clr humid 22:00 47 31 33 73 (ENE) mstly clr humid 23:00 47 31 27 72 (ENE) mstly clr humid 00:00 46 31 22 66 (ENE) mstly clr humid 01:00 46 31 22 76 (ENE) mstly clr humid 02:00 45 36 24 72 (ENE) mstly clr humid 03:00 44 32 16 87 (E) clear none 04:00 44 32 17 123 (ESE) 293 clear none 05:00 42 32 16 103 (ESE) mstly clr humid 06:00 41 32 2 93 (E) mstly clr humid Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
