FINALLY, SWEET, COOL RAIN!! Yes we were clouded out basically all night, but at least we weren't clouded out without any hope of rain. Lighting struck a few hundred feet from my car while I was driving up to site which was mind blowing but, looking back, it probably would have been wise to roll up my windows to deter against any potential arcing. The APO PAO team got to see some laser tag against the dome door (I secretly wondered how bright the laser light was as viewed from outside looking through the louvers). They even got some time on sky! I believe all of two targets were integrated before we had to close again but I got some good experience running the guider for the PAO. Lesson of the night: 50/50 change of moving in the correct offset direction really means being wrong 100% of the time for the first offset. It'll be better tomorrow... I have no idea what the seeing was given that I was looking at very white donuts. No problems tonight. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 63 41 3 100 (E) 1864 cloudy rain 17:00 57 45 18 74 (ENE) 1535 cloudy rain 18:00 59 43 10 79 (E) 1394 cloudy rain 19:00 54 44 21 37 (NE) 1581 cloudy rain 20:00 57 41 11 89 (E) 1882 cloudy rain 21:00 59 38 8 114 (ESE) 1258 cloudy lt rain 22:00 58 40 2 166 (SSE) 1433 cloudy lt rain 23:00 57 42 13 191 (S) 1352 cloudy lt rain 00:00 55 43 4 213 (SSW) 1320 cloudy lt rain 01:00 55 41 3 6 (N) 1720 cloudy none 02:00 57 39 10 322 (NW) 1155 cloudy none 03:00 56 39 12 318 (NW) 1308 mstly cldy none 04:00 56 39 8 348 (NNW) 993 cloudy none 05:00 57 38 5 350 (N) 1078 cloudy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
