Both cameras were out of focus with red in best focus about -40 steps and blue -88 (with red only slightly worse here). The DIS slit might also be slightly tilted (or the mask needs to be re-done). Guider gave us a few fits. dcamera temps were running at -14.0. I am not sure if this is a little warm (Russet said later this was fine), or the warm outside temps are causing it to have issues (very possible). We were having issues seeing faint objects in the slitviewer, which made me look at the camera temps. It appears, from later images, that the camera itself is washing out the background on some images frames. 2nd half observer was also having issues with background and finding objects, on the dis slitviewer. These were 17th mag objects. Skies were clear. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:22 dcamera 408( 1145) 72 56 17.7 20.3 20.1 20.2 17.8 -- 1.30 19:58 dcamera 307( 993) 106 61 17.8 19.3 19.0 18.7 17.4 -- 1.00 22:42 dcamera 389( 913) 58 68 16.2 16.2 16.8 15.9 16.1 -- 1.20 22:45 NA2gdr 6867(28867) 57 68 16.1 16.2 16.8 15.8 16.0 clear 1.00 01:20 NICFPS 400( 1397) -66 74 16.9 15.7 16.5 15.3 16.1 H 0.80 03:23 dcamera 470( 972) -97 70 17.0 15.8 16.6 15.5 15.8 -- 1.20 05:12 APOLLO 350( 1774) 53 26 16.7 15.6 16.4 15.3 15.9 -- 1.30 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 69 25 9 275 (W) 635 clear none 17:00 68 22 18 279 (W) 516 clear none 18:00 70 25 12 266 (W) 460 clear none 19:00 70 24 5 257 (WSW) 451 clear none 20:00 64 19 1 256 (WSW) 444 clear none 21:00 64 20 1 199 (SSW) 473 clear none 22:00 64 19 1 118 (ESE) 569 clear none 23:00 59 17 1 166 (SSE) 635 clear none 00:00 61 17 2 202 (SSW) 520 clear none 01:00 62 19 1 232 (SW) 503 clear none 02:00 63 19 3 229 (SW) 521 clear none 03:00 64 19 1 227 (SW) 515 clear none 04:00 63 19 1 271 (W) 531 clear none 05:00 62 18 1 346 (NNW) 529 clear none 06:00 62 16 5 358 (N) 511 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
