Sadly, there was some instrument trouble. First an air line got stuck on and was blowing a lot of air around the front of ARCTIC. The diffuser was moving in and out when commanded, so I didn't really want to restart the control software; instead I crimped the air line and zip-tied it. Later, after several hours of good behavior, ARCTIC started giving corrupted images with each quadrant having all pixels at the same value (but different from the other quadrants). The observer was spot-checking images but took a few minutes to catch the problem even so. Then I fixed it with an init, which was quick and effective but did cause a quad dropout. So during the day Bill will work on the air line and also the dropped quad. Tspec worked nicely second half but there was variable seeing, followed by the arrival of clouds. We closed for a while, then re-opened and the observer was able to get occasional photons from a brighter backup target until morning twilight. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- CU05 R I/H 20:11 20:42 ARCTIC air stuck on CU05 R I/H 00:37 00:50 ARCTIC corrupted images ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 21:01 arctic 557( 803) 96 54 6.7 7.7 7.3 7.5 6.4 R 1.43 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 45 6 11 267 (W) 1227 clear none 17:00 50 5 9 257 (WSW) 920 clear none 18:00 48 5 5 273 (W) 913 clear none 19:00 47 6 2 257 (WSW) 981 clear none 20:00 44 7 1 230 (SW) 1013 clear none 21:00 44 7 7 265 (W) 1128 clear none 22:00 43 6 3 244 (WSW) 1120 clear none 23:00 43 5 1 165 (SSE) 1172 clear none 00:00 44 5 3 197 (SSW) 1265 clear none 01:00 42 5 5 148 (SSE) 1332 clear none 02:00 42 4 4 125 (SE) 1352 clear none 03:00 43 4 3 160 (SSE) 1371 mstly clr none 04:00 42 4 14 111 (ESE) 1357 mstly cldy none 05:00 40 10 17 75 (ENE) 1064 ptly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
