The BC1 eyelide (Apollo) didn't open properly on the first attempt, closing the mirror covers and reopening solved the issue. The wind was high in the afternoon and I thought we wouldn't be able to open but it calmed right before sunset! We were able to get some good shots of Venus even though it was through the clouds. Knowing that Russet Moon-Shooter McMillan was coming onboard, the clouds parted for clear Apollo skies. Not favoring a meager grad student, they returned in B half and annoyed the minion. However, seeing was good all night. In attempting to take exposures on my laptop logged in as CU02 (dawnflats), the exopsure was timing out. I did an arctic init and lost a quad... But we were able to get sky flats. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:24 arctic 352( 1157) 20 37 16.1 18.3 18.3 18.4 16.3 sdss-u 1.24 21:24 APOLLO 300( 1731) 32 42 15.9 16.0 16.6 15.8 15.8 530 1.20 22:32 arctic 453( 1115) 130 33 15.0 15.5 16.3 15.4 15.2 sdss-r 1.18 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 71 25 13 222 (SW) 1058 ptly cldy none 17:00 69 25 18 205 (SSW) 1065 ptly cldy none 18:00 69 26 20 244 (WSW) 1200 ptly cldy none 19:00 64 19 18 224 (SW) 1186 ptly cldy none 20:00 62 18 13 208 (SSW) 1248 mstly cldy none 21:00 61 15 9 192 (SSW) 1266 mstly cldy none 22:00 61 16 15 210 (SSW) 1379 mstly clr none 23:00 61 18 11 221 (SW) 1407 clear none 00:00 60 15 13 221 (SW) 1229 clear none 01:00 60 15 7 260 (W) 1066 clear none 02:00 60 14 11 262 (W) 1060 ptly cldy none 03:00 59 14 10 255 (WSW) 1119 ptly cldy none 04:00 59 13 8 259 (W) 1108 clear none 05:00 56 13 8 261 (W) 1186 ptly cldy none 06:00 57 12 6 261 (W) 1132 mstly clr none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
