Plus, it was a great night. Seeing was good all night and the clouds were barely present. However, a moth may have been present within the instrument. We saw strange scattered light randomly with NAIC and nothing we did helped. It happened only a few times and was not repeatable with wavelength, rotation, exposure time, and moon position didn't matter. The best thing I could figure is that there were fast light changes between exposures that wasn't due to clouds, seeing, or the telescope and that pointed to something moving quickly inside the instrument (moth). I did notice oscillation in the azimuth at az 14, 316, 304 The NAIC team is pretty tired so they left the instrument mounted and went to bed. They will unmount in the afternoon and then leave site. No problems tonight. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:54 naic 320( 1583) -3 73 16.4 17.9 17.8 17.4 16.7 -- 0.80 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 71 28 14 269 (W) 1707 clear none 17:00 70 26 9 252 (WSW) 1638 clear none 18:00 66 24 4 284 (WNW) 1847 clear none 19:00 68 25 12 227 (SW) 1839 clear none 20:00 62 20 9 262 (W) 1745 clear none 21:00 62 18 8 222 (SW) 1923 clear none 22:00 61 17 11 233 (SW) 1534 clear none 23:00 57 15 3 190 (S) 1749 clear none 00:00 60 17 12 228 (SW) 1932 clear none 01:00 59 17 5 208 (SSW) 1938 clear none 02:00 59 16 9 212 (SSW) 2075 mstly clr none 03:00 58 16 13 232 (SW) 2075 mstly clr none 04:00 59 16 8 253 (WSW) 1894 mstly clr none 05:00 58 15 6 260 (W) 1926 mstly clr none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
