Slitviewer noise caused the observer to stick to brighter targets, and the blue side scattered light was also a problem but not a show-stopper. For the second half program, about half an hour was lost to a masking tape malfunction causing a special ND mask to come loose. After some consideration, I decided this shouldn't count as EQUIP time because it's for a special instrument setup and not regular observatory equipment - but it is sort of a borderline case. Once the masking tape problem was resolved all went well and the observations were very successful. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:29 dcamera 643( 1147) 196 79 14.2 15.8 15.3 15.7 14.2 - 1.27 01:34 dcamera 366( 715) 108 55 13.3 12.7 13.3 12.6 12.7 - 1.16 04:46 ecamera 300( -202) -62 12 12.1 11.8 12.5 11.9 12.0 ND3 1.67 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 62 20 21 262 (W) 606 mstly clr none 17:00 63 21 14 263 (W) 657 mstly clr none 18:00 63 20 26 253 (WSW) 785 mstly clr none 19:00 62 20 21 253 (WSW) 666 mstly clr none 20:00 58 20 13 257 (WSW) 736 ptly cldy none 21:00 57 21 12 245 (WSW) 863 ptly cldy none 22:00 57 21 15 267 (W) 723 clear none 23:00 57 21 10 245 (WSW) 697 clear none 00:00 56 21 9 259 (W) 812 clear none 01:00 56 21 8 262 (W) 924 clear none 02:00 56 20 8 270 (W) 904 clear none 03:00 55 19 10 289 (WNW) 1203 clear none 04:00 54 20 13 302 (WNW) 1571 clear none 05:00 53 20 16 306 (NW) 860 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
