I know, I'm as surprised as you are! We were told it would be rainy and cloudy but it all stayed to the south of us and, not only were there hardly any clouds, but we had *AMAZING* seeing all night! I wish we had been doing science given such great skies but lots of important engineering was done. I accidentally left ARCTIC parked at rotation 270 last night and someone manually pushed it to 0 (moving through 270 so it was really at 360). This caused the rotator pin to become unplugged and I got to learn how to connect it and learn behavior of an over-rotated rotator. An ARCTIC instrument block was conducted in LL mode. Shack-Hartman was run and we collimated the primary mirror. A pointing model was run and there were only slight variations found. A detailed email on the tasks was sent out. No problems tonight. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:58 arctic 411( 742) 120 72 7.8 9.5 9.4 9.2 8.1 semrock-5 0.65 22:07 arctic 490( 733) 116 64 7.7 7.8 8.2 7.6 7.6 semrock-5 0.83 23:07 shack 650( 1281) 132 57 8.2 7.4 8.0 7.4 7.5 -- 1.20 00:29 guider 590( 796) 55 70 7.2 7.1 7.7 7.1 7.2 Clear 0.75 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 50 23 14 224 (SW) 1618 mstly cldy none 17:00 51 25 10 207 (SSW) 1498 mstly cldy none 18:00 50 24 10 195 (SSW) 1911 mstly cldy none 19:00 50 28 8 214 (SW) 1236 ptly cldy none 20:00 47 28 2 194 (SSW) 1266 ptly cldy none 21:00 46 29 5 187 (S) 1089 ptly cldy none 22:00 46 30 7 192 (SSW) 1045 ptly cldy none 23:00 47 30 6 198 (SSW) 1011 mstly clr none 00:00 46 27 9 215 (SW) 1502 clear none 01:00 46 27 6 201 (SSW) 1530 clear none 02:00 45 26 7 223 (SW) 1619 clear none 03:00 43 24 5 191 (S) 1512 clear none 04:00 45 24 4 216 (SW) 1766 clear none 05:00 46 25 4 245 (WSW) 1821 clear none 06:00 44 24 2 203 (SSW) 1798 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
