Eventually had to manually move the scope up from 10 degrees to 30, then let magsensors correct. Telescope was fine after that. Symptoms consistent with 'potato chiping' of alt bearing. Evening started partly cloudy with some rain returns on the radar, but not close enough to cause alarm. Seeing seemed okay, then immediately took a nosedive as winds shifted east. At 01:19 ecam froze, needed a hub startNubs ecam to get it going again. Seeing improved after 01:00, but only modestly. We were open all night. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:49 tcamera 515( 1245) 105 62 11.9 16.1 15.8 16.3 13.5 - 1.89 00:00 ecamera 317( -343) 43 64 11.7 9.8 10.2 9.4 11.1 ND3 1.72 01:42 ecamera 389( -209) 173 46 12.4 10.6 11.4 10.7 11.3 ND4 1.23 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 64 19 17 239 (WSW) 1260 ptly cldy none 17:00 65 20 9 239 (WSW) 1296 ptly cldy none 18:00 63 20 13 268 (W) 1383 ptly cldy none 19:00 61 17 10 257 (WSW) 1136 ptly cldy none 20:00 57 13 4 190 (S) 995 ptly cldy none 21:00 52 23 8 127 (SE) 1403 ptly cldy none 22:00 53 22 3 116 (ESE) 1339 ptly cldy none 23:00 47 30 9 87 (E) 1536 ptly cldy none 00:00 54 22 6 255 (WSW) 1302 mstly clr none 01:00 54 15 6 254 (WSW) 1235 mstly clr none 02:00 54 17 7 262 (W) 1226 mstly clr none 03:00 53 18 10 250 (WSW) 1273 mstly clr none 04:00 52 21 9 237 (WSW) 1434 mstly clr none 05:00 49 22 7 254 (WSW) 1476 mstly clr none 06:00 48 25 5 187 (S) 1729 mstly clr none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
