The dust was the only thing that didn't bounce around but just gradually increased until it crossed the limit right about when the clouds cleared up before morning twilight. For about half an hour there was no data-taking; I closed the mirror covers and was about to close the dome when the cloudcam showed a hole coming in. Jon and I managed to track down the problem with the night log focus script, which was trying to query the wrong address for weather information. It works now and hopefully should keep working, but I did miss the first focus of the night. There was also trouble with the agile guider which insisted it could not see any stars in the image no matter how precisely or how broadly I set the inputs. Is it perhaps not actually seeing the image for some reason? This did not prevent observations, though. And lastly, despite successful moves during checkout, there were several motion errors from the Agile rotator, quickly recovered but annoying each time. I advised the observer on rotation settings that should make it happier in future. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 01:16 arctic 528( 682) 79 37 7.0 5.6 6.2 5.7 6.8 r 1.62 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 58 14 16 207 (SSW) 3338 mstly clr none 17:00 53 11 15 239 (WSW) 2981 clear none 18:00 56 11 6 252 (WSW) 3307 clear none 19:00 52 7 8 181 (S) 3421 clear none 20:00 45 3 19 129 (SE) 3976 clear none 21:00 44 5 19 126 (SE) 4620 clear none 22:00 40 6 9 111 (ESE) 4193 mstly clr none 23:00 39 6 10 96 (E) 4183 mstly clr none 00:00 43 6 8 112 (ESE) 4901 ptly cldy none 01:00 45 5 14 132 (SE) 5201 ptly cldy none 02:00 43 6 19 129 (SE) 5306 mstly cldy none 03:00 45 5 16 131 (SE) 5682 ptly cldy dust 04:00 46 6 17 158 (SSE) 6057 ptly cldy dust 05:00 44 5 18 141 (SE) 6999 mstly clr dust 06:00 43 6 23 137 (SE) 6853 mstly clr dust Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
