It was discovered around 23:00 that the transit imaging had been going on without the diffuser (seeing was so bad that diffused and undiffused images looked the same unless closely examined). Observer called it quits and logged off. We did one observation for Drew's program (NM04), but we could not find any takers for the remainder of the night and so we went back to NA03's target, which was mid-transit, and did our best to pick up where it was left off, this time with diffuser engaged. We stayed on it until the target reached airmass 3. Seeing did improve after midnight. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:35 arctic 405( 319) 80 62 -1.1 1.1 1.6 0.1 -0.8 SDSS i 3.00 00:09 ecamera 401( -758) -53 40 0.6 -0.5 0.1 -0.4 0.4 ND2 1.34 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 41 13 15 199 (SSW) 439 clear none 17:00 35 11 2 155 (SSE) 544 clear none 18:00 31 11 5 123 (ESE) 514 clear none 19:00 30 8 9 131 (SE) 469 clear none 20:00 30 6 14 138 (SE) 510 clear none 21:00 32 9 15 180 (S) 599 clear none 22:00 30 11 21 142 (SE) 749 clear none 23:00 33 5 12 185 (S) 426 clear none 00:00 32 7 10 171 (S) 543 clear none 01:00 32 8 17 159 (SSE) 474 clear none 02:00 33 7 16 183 (S) 402 clear none 03:00 33 6 14 181 (S) 374 clear none 04:00 31 6 9 182 (S) 339 clear none 05:00 34 5 8 187 (S) 367 clear none 06:00 35 6 8 223 (SW) 379 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
