The clouds started getting thicker after midnight and OU05 couldn't see their targets after about 2:30am and they stopped, hoping it would get better. Unfortunately, it didn’t improve for Tspec and OU05 gave up when their targets were too low. However, while things were still cloudy, we could see Venus…with the echelle. I took the chance to grab a few spectra through the clouds after 5am. Tonight was our first night with the NMSU trainee, David DeColibus! Nothing was broken, dropped, rained on, or engulfed in flames. So all in all, a good day of training! No problems tonight. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 17:10 ecamera 791( -169) 249 75 2.7 3.9 3.7 3.8 2.9 ND2 1.00 19:49 ecamera 671( -385) 11 56 3.0 1.8 2.7 2.1 2.6 clear 1.01 22:56 ecamera 687( -365) 14 46 2.9 1.7 2.6 2.1 2.6 clear 0.97 00:19 tcamera 885( 887) -79 73 3.1 2.2 3.0 2.7 3.2 Ks 0.96 05:13 ecamera 736( -304) 118 69 3.6 2.2 3.2 2.8 3.1 ND1 0.92 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 38 8 7 344 (NNW) 84 ptly cldy none 17:00 37 6 11 337 (NNW) 55 ptly cldy none 18:00 36 7 15 328 (NNW) 101 ptly cldy none 19:00 35 11 11 313 (NW) 118 ptly cldy none 20:00 36 6 14 303 (WNW) 70 ptly cldy none 21:00 37 4 12 271 (W) 148 ptly cldy none 22:00 36 6 12 282 (WNW) 132 ptly cldy none 23:00 37 7 21 303 (WNW) 114 ptly cldy none 00:00 37 4 14 279 (W) 82 ptly cldy none 01:00 38 8 13 295 (WNW) 126 mstly cldy none 02:00 37 9 15 316 (NW) 141 mstly cldy none 03:00 39 13 12 328 (NNW) 59 mstly cldy none 04:00 39 12 20 311 (NW) 81 mstly cldy none 05:00 39 11 17 302 (WNW) 60 ptly cldy none 06:00 38 12 15 323 (NW) 72 ptly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
