I think I saw snow this afternoon! Or maybe it was sleet, it was hard to tell given the minute size. There were either clouds or high humidity (or both) most of the night. However, we could start seeing stars around 23:00, but the humidity was too high to open. Around 3:30 the sky was clear and the humidity was hanging *just* low enough that we could open. We managed to get some data but seeing was very poor. Then things got windy (but not enough to force closure). So, not a great night, but we did get data. However, the weathered out first half gave all us obs specs the chance to have a wonderful Thanksgiving feast! My goodness, why did we make so much food?? And what am I thankful for this year? The same thing I was so thankful for last year: to be a part of APO! Which means getting to spend Thanksgiving with friends, taking a retreat to the mountains during the holiday, and being reminded of how lucky I am to have landed the best job *ever*. So thank you all for listening to my silly little night log songs and stories :) No problems tonight (though I would like to note that it is much harder to rewrite Adele songs than it is to make a flock of Cornish game hens). ----- Hello, it’s me I was wondering if after all these hours you’d like some meat Dressing over everything They say that Tums supposed to heal ya But it ain’t done much healing Hello, can you hear me? We are clouded over sleeting, I’ll bet it's sure to freeze Now we are hungry but free I’ve forgotten how it felt to bake here at nine thousand feet There's such a feasting hope before us But a cooking trial Hello with a Cornish side! I must have checked a thousand times! I’ll tell you I'm sorry that everything not quite done But at least we aren't working up in the dome Helpings from the Sloany side! At least I can say that I tried! And tell you I'm sorry, and baking is hard But it don’t matter it clearly doesn't need me to baste anymore Salute, more for you? It’s so typical of me to make amounts too large I'm sorry I hope we don't swell Did you ever make up that coffee now before we start a’nappin’ It’s no secret that the group of us Are starting movie time More helpings from another side! It’s just too bad we can’t have wine! I’ll tell you your bread loaf is everything that I love So could you leave it instead of taking it home Helpings from another pie! At least I can say that I’ve tried! To eat all I can see, not good for my heart Oh it don’t matter, so clearly before you depart lets eat more Ooooohh, anymore? Ooooohh, anymore? Ooooohh, anymore? Anymore? Hello on the TUI side! It’s sure feeling like it’s bed time! I tell you it’s clearing and the evening's not done So I don my gloves andI go up to the dome Freezing on the outside! At least I can say that I’ve tried! And tell you I’m sorry for such a late start But it don't matter it clearly doesn’t tear you apart anymore… ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 03:48 arctic 592( 429) -27 54 -2.7 -0.3 0.9 -0.8 -2.0 sdss-r 2.18 05:03 arctic 720( 510) 123 29 -2.0 -1.7 -1.2 -2.4 -2.2 sdss-r 3.03 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 37 29 14 237 (WSW) 422 cloudy lt snow 17:00 36 29 9 266 (W) 319 cloudy lt snow 18:00 36 25 14 255 (WSW) 238 cloudy humid 19:00 35 28 10 258 (WSW) 292 cloudy humid 20:00 35 29 13 263 (W) cloudy humid 21:00 35 26 14 250 (WSW) 280 cloudy humid 22:00 33 25 10 266 (W) 230 mstly cldy humid 23:00 32 26 20 267 (W) 191 mstly cldy humid 00:00 31 26 18 284 (WNW) mstly cldy humid 01:00 30 25 16 296 (WNW) ptly cldy humid 02:00 30 25 14 307 (NW) mstly clr humid 03:00 29 23 10 336 (NNW) mstly clr humid 04:00 27 22 5 359 (N) mstly clr none 05:00 28 21 9 27 (NNE) mstly clr none 06:00 30 12 22 37 (NE) 239 mstly clr none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
