See tcam images 176, 179. I was focusing while he was observing and it seemed to self correct after the focus tweak both times. Seeing deteriorated as the night progressed, especially while TSPEC was on. At changeover to the last program for the night we encountered a problem with the secondary A encoder/actuator. This was a different problem than the one we experienced two nights ago (when we actuallyhanged ports and the encoder didn't work as commanded) and Russet had a quick fix. Tonight we were just changing instruments from TSPEC to DIS and it timed out when I went to focus. I called Russet and she investigated while Dimitry took cals. Unfortuantely we were not able to fix the secondary problem, it's possibly cold related, and Bill said they would deal with it in the daytime, so we closed up for the night. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- NM06 D T/H 00:10 06:22 Secondary A encoder/actuator problem ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 17:20 ecamera 800( -143) 115 66 2.2 4.1 4.1 4.1 2.6 clear 1.20 18:30 arctic 798( 764) 216 38 1.4 1.9 2.9 2.0 1.7 sdss_i 1.85 18:30 NA2gdr 2715(36715) 216 38 1.4 1.9 2.9 2.0 1.7 clear 2.00 22:24 TSPEC 782( ) -17 52 -2.4 -1.2 -0.7 -1.7 -2.2 Ks 1.75 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 41 25 18 216 (SW) 315 clear none 17:00 37 16 22 246 (WSW) 675 clear none 18:00 36 14 20 240 (WSW) 580 clear none 19:00 34 14 18 262 (W) 676 clear none 20:00 32 13 19 264 (W) 788 clear none 21:00 31 9 16 267 (W) 786 clear none 22:00 29 13 15 333 (NNW) 719 clear none 23:00 26 18 7 351 (N) 373 clear none 00:00 24 13 22 9 (N) 377 clear none 01:00 22 8 10 32 (NNE) 349 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
