We had about an inch or 2 some of it melting before sunset. It was followed by high humidity through the night. I ran the roof heaters until the temps fell below 30F. Around 3:40 we tried to open (the humidity was borderline), but there was ice still on the roof, which fell into the dome (fortunately mirror covers were closed and the telescope was at low altitude=10 degrees). Decided it was not worth the risk of more ice falling, and closed for the night. The scope was left parked at (0,10) to facilitate the sun in melting the ice. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 33 32 11 324 (NW) 52 cloudy snow 17:00 29 29 13 331 (NNW) cloudy humid 18:00 31 24 11 339 (NNW) cloudy humid 19:00 30 26 6 348 (NNW) cloudy humid 20:00 29 27 10 347 (NNW) cloudy humid 21:00 29 27 4 309 (NW) cloudy humid 22:00 29 24 4 339 (NNW) cloudy humid 23:00 28 25 5 5 (N) cloudy humid 00:00 29 21 14 3 (N) cloudy humid 01:00 27 24 10 3 (N) cloudy humid 02:00 27 25 14 335 (NNW) cloudy humid 03:00 27 22 11 52 (NE) cloudy humid 04:00 29 18 19 321 (NW) 7 cloudy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
