A second slew attempt also did not work. I needed to init the alt axis to get it to move, like last night. Pointing seemed off on the telescope. My observer notified me after observing for a couple of hours of the possible problem. THey also noticed the telescope was not tracking well, they were manually guiding and had to make aggressive corrections about every 20s. I slewed to a couple stars and eventually to Vega, which landed near center on the NA2gdr and on the boresight in TSPEC. Maybe a bad sensor crossing. I did a sensor dump (after Vega) of both axis at 03:37:31 and 03:37:38. Observer reported tracking and pointing much improved after my slews and checks. Clouds started moving in around 00:15 and by 01:00 they basically stopped any TSPEC observations, so they quit a few minutes early. I needed to find the best DIS focus vs. slitviewer to I took the first 40 mins of the 2nd program tonight for Engineering to do this. APOLLO fought the clouds as well but pushed thru. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:25 tcamera 831( 1545) 130 69 12.9 16.0 15.7 15.5 13.3 Ks 1.00 01:27 dcamera 610( 977) 261 47 13.3 12.9 13.4 12.9 13.2 -- 1.20 05:55 APOLLO 600( 1828) 87 26 11.6 11.8 12.2 11.8 11.8 -- 1.50 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 62 43 15 262 (W) clear none 17:00 61 41 13 258 (WSW) clear none 18:00 60 39 12 246 (WSW) clear none 19:00 55 38 10 240 (WSW) clear none 20:00 56 35 9 208 (SSW) clear none 21:00 56 36 10 206 (SSW) mstly clr none 22:00 57 36 8 234 (SW) mstly clr none 23:00 56 38 11 259 (W) mstly clr none 00:00 56 39 10 238 (WSW) ptly cldy none 01:00 56 41 8 266 (W) ptly cldy none 02:00 53 41 12 228 (SW) ptly cldy none 03:00 54 42 9 216 (SW) ptly cldy none 04:00 53 43 9 207 (SSW) mstly cldy none 05:00 54 42 13 213 (SSW) ptly cldy none 06:00 52 46 6 198 (SSW) ptly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
