Not so beautiful for observing. I began the night to find part of the primary mirror was covered in condensation. When was the last time we had a dry day? I left the mirror covers open while I did dome duties and after about 30 min the mirror looked fine. Humidity dropped below 80% a few hours after sunset and we were able to stay open for 1.5 hrs. Now, we didn't get any good data mind you, seeing was 2.25", but we were at least open. UV02 gave up due to clouds at 00:15. I took the opportunity to let our NM02 trainee take control and hit some echelle buttons before fully closing. Humidity dropped below 80% after midnight but the wind was screaming and we couldn't reopen. I left the dome parked west as I fear a collision if I tried to move it into the easterly winds. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 21:51 tcamera 654( 1002) 330 53 5.2 8.7 10.3 8.1 6.1 Ks 2.25 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 51 31 1 271 (W) cloudy fog 17:00 49 32 7 82 (E) cloudy fog 18:00 46 31 16 80 (E) cloudy fog 19:00 44 31 20 67 (ENE) mstly cldy fog 20:00 43 31 15 74 (ENE) ptly cldy humid 21:00 42 31 27 72 (ENE) ptly cldy humid 22:00 41 31 21 78 (ENE) mstly clr none 23:00 41 30 27 71 (ENE) 16 ptly cldy humid 00:00 41 30 29 75 (ENE) mstly cldy humid 01:00 41 31 20 82 (E) ptly cldy humid 02:00 40 31 27 73 (ENE) mstly clr humid 03:00 40 31 20 83 (E) mstly clr humid 04:00 40 31 30 73 (ENE) 13 clear none 05:00 40 29 34 72 (ENE) clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
