I took a chance and opened for a short while, remaining up in the dome to monitor weather directly. We got the minimum required data for TripleSpec checkout, but the clouds quickly got more cantankerous. Second half the radar gradually receded but the clouds just got worse, and we never reopened. We checked out TripleSpec! Off sky and on sky! It works, and it's in focus, and we think it's about the same sensitivity, although it was hard to be certain while struggling with clouds. So hopefully it can appear in more night logs to come. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 21:47 TSPEC 575( ) Ks 0.84 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 70 41 9 228 (SW) 532 mstly clr none 17:00 72 42 2 243 (WSW) 515 mstly clr none 18:00 68 41 2 131 (SE) 563 ptly cldy none 19:00 66 39 9 45 (NE) 549 ptly cldy none 20:00 64 40 2 108 (ESE) 637 ptly cldy none 21:00 62 41 10 110 (ESE) 770 ptly cldy none 22:00 61 38 12 107 (ESE) 806 mstly cldy none 23:00 59 40 22 76 (ENE) 1036 mstly cldy none 00:00 56 45 18 76 (ENE) 1089 mstly cldy none 01:00 57 45 14 83 (E) 1298 mstly cldy none 02:00 57 45 12 97 (E) 1323 mstly cldy none 03:00 57 45 7 86 (E) 1613 mstly cldy none 04:00 57 43 1 335 (NNW) 1439 mstly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
