About midnight, clouds began to roll in. They did not stick around, but the wind increased, and dust became an issue shortly after 01:00. Around 02:30 rain echoes were seen on the radar headed toward the site, so we remained closed. At 02:45 humidity, wind and dust all spiked. Around 04:30 humidity rapidly dropped, and dust counts were just under the threshold (and dropping), so we opened. We ran under it got too bright out. No failures, but during taking flats during the bad weather, the arctic filter wheel was not turning to the proper position, even after a home command. It was fixed by physically removing the FW and re-seating it, then issuing a home command. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:37 NICFPS 484( 1808) 54 13 19.0 21.2 21.9 21.2 20.5 Fe1.64 2.76 20:51 NICFPS 503( 1790) 109 38 18.7 20.9 21.3 20.4 20.1 Fe1.64 0.98 21:46 NICFPS 519( 1727) 120 35 18.5 19.3 19.9 19.0 18.8 H2-2.12 1.07 23:29 NICFPS 563( 1730) 18 35 18.5 18.6 19.2 18.6 18.7 H2-2.12 0.85 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 70 34 8 89 (E) 683 ptly cldy none 17:00 73 31 11 297 (WNW) 754 ptly cldy lt rain 18:00 73 31 5 235 (SW) 766 ptly cldy none 19:00 69 33 19 72 (ENE) 779 ptly cldy none 20:00 69 32 7 194 (SSW) 737 clear none 21:00 65 34 11 132 (SE) 635 clear none 22:00 65 33 20 125 (SE) 813 clear none 23:00 66 31 14 128 (SE) 720 clear none 00:00 64 32 14 84 (E) 669 ptly cldy none 01:00 57 42 23 81 (E) 3226 ptly cldy dust 02:00 57 43 22 126 (SE) 4374 ptly cldy dust 03:00 52 48 22 83 (E) ptly cldy humid 04:00 51 47 11 121 (ESE) ptly cldy humid 05:00 55 44 19 131 (SE) 1756 ptly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
