We stayed closed for the remainder of the 1st program. At the start of the 2nd program, I felt it too risky to open, even though the humidity was now lower. I saw clouds forming to our NE and the flow from the satellite showed things moving NE to SW tonight (monsoonal flow). This time of year its a little to risky to live on the edge, so we stayed closed until 00:30. I changed instruments for the 3rd program and got the telescope focused just in time for clouds to form over top of us. I closed (we never got any data) at 01:40 when I felt it was getting a little too risky with the forming clouds and high humidity. We finally did re-open at 03:30. APOLLO gave up a few minutes early due to clouds. We had a telescope/enclosure collision when I went up to close the telescope. I suspect the wind pushed the telescope slightly (we were facing almost directly into the wind) when I powered down the telescope drives. The slew appeared to finish fine. I move the telescope off the limit switch and reset the collision switch button. All looks fine now. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:42 dcamera 297( 928) -99 32 14.7 17.8 18.4 17.9 16.9 -- 1.75 23:44 NICFPS 835( 1700) 116 38 11.7 12.7 14.2 12.6 12.1 2.12 1.10 00:22 tcamera 835( 1355) 114 45 11.5 11.9 13.1 11.9 11.8 Ks 1.00 02:33 tcamera 805( 1279) 113 70 11.0 11.3 12.7 11.6 11.2 Ks 1.10 04:03 APOLLO 500( 1669) 3 52 11.4 11.0 11.6 11.1 11.3 -- 2.20 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 68 44 16 60 (ENE) 697 cloudy none 17:00 67 41 9 64 (ENE) 567 ptly cldy none 18:00 66 44 5 89 (E) 578 ptly cldy none 19:00 62 47 16 78 (ENE) 720 mstly clr none 20:00 60 50 11 94 (E) 980 mstly clr none 21:00 58 50 16 76 (ENE) 979 mstly clr none 22:00 56 51 16 80 (E) ptly cldy none 23:00 55 48 15 91 (E) ptly cldy humid 00:00 53 48 5 30 (NNE) 1376 ptly cldy none 01:00 53 47 21 77 (ENE) ptly cldy none 02:00 53 48 13 89 (E) mstly cldy humid 03:00 52 48 22 71 (ENE) ptly cldy none 04:00 52 44 26 70 (ENE) 751 ptly cldy none 05:00 53 32 25 64 (ENE) 265 ptly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
