The visiting instrument struggled with varying clouds during first half, but seeing was fairly good in moments between clouds so they actually made some progress. APOLLO was unsuccessful in getting through thicker clouds, and then we closed for a line of clouds and radar. When that cleared we went back to PAO, and they were able to get data on several stars down to 5th magnitude before Venus was high enough to observe. Thanks to Candace for donating some extra time to PAO! We're in a good position for tomorrow night. During the evening ARCSAT had slewing problems - it looks like it might be stuck at a limit. I was working upstairs and knew I would not have an opportunity to spend half an hour in the ARCSAT dome until well after midnight, so the observer gave up. Perhaps ARCSAT could be zeroed at zenith during the day? ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 01:11 APOLLO 450( 1822) -13 30 14.5 14.6 15.2 14.6 14.5 530 1.70 04:17 ecamera 400( -8) 118 19 14.1 13.8 14.4 13.8 13.7 ND3 1.60 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 70 45 6 288 (WNW) 708 mstly cldy none 17:00 72 45 8 265 (W) 702 mstly cldy none 18:00 66 39 9 264 (W) 787 cloudy none 19:00 63 38 5 267 (W) 773 cloudy none 20:00 62 38 15 278 (W) 783 cloudy none 21:00 60 36 7 290 (WNW) 769 mstly cldy none 22:00 61 35 8 268 (W) 747 ptly cldy none 23:00 60 32 14 314 (NW) 604 ptly cldy none 00:00 59 32 10 294 (WNW) 499 ptly cldy none 01:00 59 32 9 326 (NW) 499 mstly cldy none 02:00 59 33 5 311 (NW) 481 ptly cldy none 03:00 60 32 5 266 (W) 588 mstly clr none 04:00 58 33 6 267 (W) 569 clear none 05:00 57 34 3 311 (NW) 540 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
