We had our first moth casualty in the Altitude drive. Smeared moth gunk everywhere. I also saw one of the pesky buggers fluttering around as well. It is WAY TOO EARLY for the return of the Moths!!! We also has several of the buggers hanging out on the ceiling in the hallway of the ops building tonight. The Echelle IOL was low tonight. We monitored the Echelle all night long. 08:20:31 telescope Az drive halted, BadAzStatus. Luckily it happened to occur right at the end of an echelle exposure. Axis restart fixed the problem with no time loss while the echelle read out. Russet said there was a power fluctuation in Cloudcroft at that moment but I didn't see anything flicker here, I guess I blinked. 10:59:15 ecam stopped, needed to power cycle to fix. The mirror covers would not close remotely at the end of the night. The eyelids did operate fine though. It must have been a power glitch earlier that also halted the telescope Az drive. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:47 APOLLO 750( 1869) 27 67 12.1 14.2 14.1 13.9 13.6 -- 1.70 20:02 dcamera 838( 939) 3 57 11.2 11.7 12.4 11.6 11.6 -- 1.50 00:13 ecamera 858( -188) -84 59 10.1 9.9 10.5 9.8 9.9 clear 1.00 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 61 15 30 250 (WSW) 591 clear none 17:00 59 14 25 264 (W) 664 clear none 18:00 58 14 15 265 (W) 734 clear none 19:00 57 13 26 239 (WSW) 691 clear none 20:00 54 10 22 242 (WSW) 784 clear none 21:00 53 9 15 234 (SW) 753 clear none 22:00 52 10 20 252 (WSW) 690 ptly cldy none 23:00 51 12 11 266 (W) 716 clear none 00:00 50 13 16 278 (W) 833 clear none 01:00 50 14 12 315 (NW) 1174 ptly cldy none 02:00 50 15 7 339 (NNW) 1373 mstly clr none 03:00 50 16 8 7 (N) 1649 clear none 04:00 50 18 17 35 (NE) 1368 clear none 05:00 49 20 12 14 (NNE) 1099 clear none 06:00 48 21 12 17 (NNE) 949 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
