By 18:00 winds were topping 35mph, we did not do slew tests. The wind and dust became borderline around sunset, and given the target was facing downwind, we opened. Clouds proved to be very thick, though. We could not find any stars, and closed again to wait out the clouds. Starting around 22:00 dust levels shot up quite high. About 02:00 El Paso became visible again, heralding clearer air. We opened at 02:45. Unfortunately, bands of clouds began to pass, making observing difficult at times. We powered through it, and closed as dawn approached. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 02:58 arctic 692( 794) -83 67 8.2 8.8 9.6 9.0 8.6 Wash-C 1.67 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 59 25 27 255 (WSW) 2777 ptly cldy none 17:00 58 24 22 225 (SW) 4045 ptly cldy dust 18:00 57 24 21 259 (W) 3935 mstly cldy dust 19:00 54 21 35 254 (WSW) 3545 mstly cldy none 20:00 53 22 27 259 (W) 2710 mstly cldy none 21:00 52 22 24 272 (W) 2289 mstly cldy none 22:00 51 22 20 268 (W) 8991 mstly cldy dust 23:00 51 24 28 276 (W) 47748 mstly clr dust 00:00 50 25 22 255 (WSW) 38228 mstly clr dust 01:00 49 25 21 245 (WSW) 50840 mstly clr dust 02:00 47 26 15 265 (W) 10495 mstly clr dust 03:00 47 26 18 267 (W) 2875 ptly cldy none 04:00 46 27 19 239 (WSW) 2413 ptly cldy none 05:00 45 28 20 229 (SW) 2165 ptly cldy none 06:00 44 29 24 268 (W) 2067 ptly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
