The big telescope and instruments behaved well, including the agile rotator for two nights in a row. ARCSAT, on the other hand, wanted lots of attention. It needed a couple of reboots, which messed up pointing both times. The first time, I had trouble fixing the pointing because I tried to set it on Aldebaran, which was about to be occulted by the Moon. I was very confused for a while. After midnight there was another freeze-up where a single-object run simply stopped after “Image finishedâ€ when it had only taken 1/10 images. This time I recorded the telescope position before rebooting, and was able to plug it back in when the software thought the telescope was somewhere else entirely. Around morning twilight the observer reported the same kind of freeze-up; this time it might have been related to telescope altitude being too low? But it wasn't low the other two times so I'm not certain. Anyway, in the morning I managed to recover without a reboot by turning off motors and giving the script long enough to time out, but the observer was stopping anyway so we didnâ €™t test function. Perhaps I can apply the same recovery technique tomorrow. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:33 dcamera 804( 674) 187 70 5.4 7.3 7.1 7.3 6.8 - 1.10 00:15 AGILE 804(-1515) 58 69 5.0 4.6 5.2 4.8 4.8 BG40 0.77 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 47 21 7 232 (SW) 770 clear none 17:00 46 22 18 258 (WSW) 754 mstly clr none 18:00 42 22 11 246 (WSW) 792 ptly cldy none 19:00 42 22 15 249 (WSW) 842 ptly cldy none 20:00 41 21 13 256 (WSW) 705 mstly clr none 21:00 41 21 15 264 (W) 685 clear none 22:00 41 21 14 264 (W) 651 clear none 23:00 41 21 9 264 (W) 742 clear none 00:00 41 20 13 283 (WNW) 861 clear none 01:00 41 21 14 264 (W) 810 mstly clr none 02:00 40 22 14 231 (SW) 759 clear none 03:00 40 24 14 225 (SW) 963 clear none 04:00 39 26 15 219 (SW) 856 mstly clr none 05:00 40 27 9 263 (W) 876 mstly clr none 06:00 40 24 7 260 (W) 944 mstly clr none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
