The day started out completely overcast with virga. It suddenly cleared up, with a nice spike in humidity, two hours into the night and we were able to open. The humidity dropped for a few hours and then spiked again, forcing us to close at 00:05. Seeing was a straight up train wreck except for an hour when we reached 1". We reopened at 01:08 and stayed open the remainder of the night....with poor seeing, which was fine because it only helped observations with the diffuser. No problems tonight but, remember folks, Daylight Savings starts tonight. Help control the tardy population, have your clocks set or neutralized! ======== This one goes out to Dr. John Barentine... *lace up corset* It's astounding Time is cheating, Madness takes its toll... But listen closely, No, no extra time conjured Cuz UT keeps control. I remember doing the Time Warp, During that lifetime when, The schedule would hate me, And the clock would be calling. Let's do the Time Warp again! Let's do the Time Warp again! It's just a roll to the left, And then a snore to the right. With your hands set in fists, You bring your knees in tight, But it's the temp'rl thrust, They really drive you insane. Let's do the Time Warp again! Let's do the Time Warp again! I'm so beamy, Oh, APO freed me, So time can't scare me, No not at all. No confusing convention, No temporal suspension, Well sundialed, we set all... With a bit of a mind flip... You're into a time slip... And nothing can ever be the same (until fall). You're spaced out on cunctation, Like you're under sedation, Let's do the Time Warp again! Let's do the Time Warp again! ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:26 ecamera 843( -310) 217 59 4.9 7.8 8.3 7.1 6.9 ND2 3.38 19:59 ecamera 975( -260) 221 54 4.4 6.0 6.8 5.9 5.7 ND2 3.19 20:43 ecamera 945( -343) 278 44 3.8 4.9 5.6 4.7 4.7 Clear 1.88 22:39 ecamera 916( -252) 304 38 8.2 7.2 7.9 7.6 7.6 ND1 1.05 01:35 arctic 692( 541) 118 30 3.0 3.4 4.0 3.5 3.2 sdss-i 3.17 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 50 14 8 330 (NNW) 417 cloudy none 17:00 50 13 6 24 (NNE) 302 cloudy none 18:00 48 11 9 46 (NE) 365 mstly cldy none 19:00 42 36 25 74 (ENE) 2381 clear humid 20:00 40 36 23 81 (E) clear humid 21:00 44 24 1 232 (SW) 2181 clear none 22:00 48 13 2 236 (SW) 438 clear none 23:00 41 24 2 126 (SE) 976 clear none 00:00 36 32 13 82 (E) clear humid 01:00 39 28 2 133 (SE) 1519 clear none 03:00 40 27 19 128 (SE) 780 clear none 04:00 40 30 21 142 (SE) 1988 clear none 05:00 40 30 18 161 (SSE) 1490 clear none 06:00 40 30 17 181 (S) 1281 clear humid Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
