We were able to get immediately on sky and on UW09's transiting target but found out later that the diffuser wasn't rotating. After I dismounted ARCTIC for switch over, I looked at the diffuser but could see nothing obviously wrong, the belt was in place and I could move it by hand. When I commanded the diffuser to rotate there was no air being pumped through the hose or sound of any trying to be pumped but I saw no lose connections. While we were suppose to have a clear night, clouds started rolling in on the wind. The wind spiked around 1:45am and, while we were attempted to slew out of the wind, there was a dome collision. I closed the dome and slewed out of the wind and we were able to keep observing. Unfortunately, the clouds became so thick that by 03:22 we finally closed. We were not able to reopen. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:02 arctic 530( 585) 106 77 4.4 8.0 7.9 7.5 7.0 sdss-r 0.84 23:22 arctic 838( 690) 177 71 4.5 4.0 4.6 4.3 4.3 sdss-r 0.91 01:33 dcamera 770( 454) 10 57 3.9 3.5 4.1 3.7 3.8 -- 0.98 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 45 9 9 256 (WSW) clear none 17:00 44 11 8 259 (W) mstly clr none 18:00 40 7 6 223 (SW) mstly clr none 19:00 41 13 9 197 (SSW) mstly clr none 20:00 40 13 10 219 (SW) mstly clr none 21:00 39 13 12 250 (WSW) ptly cldy none 22:00 40 13 15 263 (W) ptly cldy none 23:00 40 12 18 262 (W) mstly clr none 00:00 39 15 21 266 (W) ptly cldy none 01:00 38 15 23 263 (W) mstly cldy none 02:00 39 18 29 269 (W) mstly cldy none 03:00 38 20 20 272 (W) cloudy none 04:00 38 19 23 284 (WNW) cloudy none 05:00 38 18 24 271 (W) cloudy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
