The first couple of programs had some success working through clouds, but by midnight it was impossible to keep trying. I checked out the Agile rotator in the afternoon and it seemed fine, but when we were observing there seemed to be a software or communications problem with the rotator. It would report "Motor Control Buffer Empty" even when I had clearly told it where to go. The first time this happened I was able to clear it with "axis stop rot" and "axis init rot" but that didn't work the second time, so I tried talking to the axis through talk2boxes and then TUI was able to connect. Each occasion lasted less than five minutes but together they were worth reporting. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- DD06 P T/S 20:10 20:15 Comm trouble TUI to Agile rot ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:11 NICFPS 1050( 1162) 29 37 0.2 1.8 1.6 1.8 1.4 FeII1.65 2.16 20:22 AGILE 850(-1729) 140 72 -0.1 -0.5 0.2 -0.4 -0.4 BG40 1.22 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 38 -3 22 242 (WSW) 455 clear none 17:00 34 -4 22 214 (SW) 406 ptly cldy none 18:00 32 -6 26 223 (SW) 486 ptly cldy none 19:00 32 -10 16 259 (W) 427 ptly cldy none 20:00 31 -9 16 268 (W) 384 ptly cldy none 21:00 32 -4 11 266 (W) 381 ptly cldy none 22:00 31 -3 17 257 (WSW) 1004 ptly cldy none 23:00 31 -5 16 246 (WSW) 970 mstly cldy none 00:00 31 -4 15 264 (W) 2841 cloudy none 01:00 31 -1 8 254 (WSW) 1501 cloudy none 02:00 30 -1 14 262 (W) 474 cloudy none 03:00 29 1 11 253 (WSW) 434 cloudy none 04:00 29 -1 22 270 (W) 289 cloudy none 05:00 29 -1 13 271 (W) 311 cloudy none 06:00 29 -2 18 265 (W) 281 cloudy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
