Snow passed, only high humidity remianed. By 20:00 it had cleared, but with 90% humidity we could not yet open. Humidity dropped to 80% with a downward trend at around 01:10 so we opened. Seeing was bad, we had trouble guiding. Guiding got worse as the winds rose. At 03:00 I checked outside, and found copious amounts of snow blowing in the wind. Immediately went up and shut down the telescope, though there is a good chance the mirror got some snow. Winds began to exceed 35 mph. We stayed closed the rest of the night, the observer logged off. I checked the mirror during fills, some of the mirror covers had snow on them, but no snow appears to have stuck to the mirror itself. Scope was left parked at 0,10. Also note S.Schmidt observed for UW04 program, was not able to fit his name on the observer column above. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 01:08 ecamera 937( -898) 47 67 -7.8 -5.5 -3.5 -5.8 -6.1 ND3 2.50 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 25 24 5 357 (N) cloudy lt snow 17:00 23 22 8 63 (ENE) cloudy humid 18:00 23 22 5 81 (E) cloudy humid 19:00 22 21 8 60 (ENE) ptly cldy humid 20:00 21 20 8 61 (ENE) mstly clr humid 21:00 21 18 10 7 (N) mstly clr humid 22:00 20 17 6 5 (N) mstly clr humid 23:00 18 17 4 291 (WNW) mstly clr humid 00:00 18 15 3 300 (WNW) mstly clr humid 01:00 18 14 8 147 (SSE) mstly clr none 02:00 18 14 17 51 (NE) ptly cldy none 03:00 19 14 8 97 (E) ptly cldy none 04:00 19 13 28 69 (ENE) ptly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
