The basin was very dusty but it didn't seem to be climbing the mountain. Although we never had an overcurrent due to wind, on a few targets I could see it pushing the primary mirror around so I asked the observer to move further east. Patchy clouds started moving in later in the evening, but there were still some clear periods. When the looming radar signals spread into Otero county and the clouds were preventing guiding, I finally said it was time to close. Despite radar above and all around us, the precipitation sensor had not gone off by 6 am. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:25 ecamera 949( -44) 64 70 9.5 11.0 11.0 10.9 10.4 ND2 1.10 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 53 20 28 258 (WSW) clear none 17:00 51 21 24 260 (W) clear none 18:00 50 21 22 271 (W) clear none 19:00 50 22 22 271 (W) clear none 20:00 48 22 17 269 (W) clear none 21:00 48 22 20 268 (W) clear none 22:00 49 21 24 268 (W) clear none 23:00 48 22 23 270 (W) mstly clr none 00:00 47 23 12 270 (W) ptly cldy none 01:00 47 23 17 297 (WNW) mstly clr none 02:00 46 23 11 286 (WNW) ptly cldy none 03:00 47 20 17 296 (WNW) mstly cldy none 04:00 47 20 9 299 (WNW) cloudy none 05:00 47 24 1 296 (WNW) cloudy none 06:00 44 22 15 77 (ENE) cloudy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
