We immediately started with bad pointing but were able to find GS01's targets after executing a pointing correction. When we switched to the echelle for UW02 we had to do the same process with the echelle pointing script. The level of pointing varied as we moved across the sky. UW02 lost about 40min due to trying to adjust the pointing. At the beginning of JH04's program Russet called for time out and we homed the M2 and M3 mirrors, zeroed the rotator, and ran a quick pointing model. Not surprisingly, things were found to be horribly off, especially in azimuth. A detailed PR was sent out. Things were a little better after the pointing model was applied (as in, the star usually fell in the FOV or very near the outer edge). We had to go to very bright stars in order to find out where we were most of the night and, at one point, a bright star was burned into several ecam exposures (e0008.fits for an example). There were some high thin clouds over the course of the night but nothing to keep us from finding out targets...well, not on that front at least. When opening, the left door had several soft knocks. When closing, the right door had some loud groaning. As a last fun activity, the night log wouldn't generate so I'm having to send it out via my email. Hopefully nothing went wrong... ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- UW02 E T/H 18:06 18:50 Pointing errors ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:03 ecamera 287( -768) -93 39 1.6 1.5 1.5 1.0 1.3 ND1 0.99 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 41 11 6 215 (SW) 237 clear none 17:00 34 7 2 241 (WSW) 232 clear none 18:00 34 5 2 249 (WSW) 192 clear none 19:00 35 4 1 218 (SW) 206 clear none 20:00 35 6 8 87 (E) 221 clear none 21:00 35 2 5 95 (E) 176 mstly clr none 22:00 37 0 2 68 (ENE) 170 mstly clr none 23:00 36 -3 6 95 (E) 153 mstly clr none 00:00 37 -8 2 193 (SSW) 83 mstly clr none 01:00 36 -2 2 231 (SW) 120 mstly clr none 02:00 36 -9 1 295 (WNW) 101 mstly clr none 03:00 34 -5 2 352 (N) 150 ptly cldy none 04:00 36 0 3 8 (N) 189 ptly cldy none 05:00 35 -8 1 194 (SSW) 86 mstly clr none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
