Ho! Ho! dcam was reading out oddly (the horizontal lines) a few times. An example is in image 124. Coal was left in its stocking. The louvers wouldn't open at check out. Turns out the knob on the electronic controls was set to "Off". Once I turned it on everything worked fine. They received a Red Rider BB gun with a compass in the stock and this thing which tells time. JH06 (Adam "The Comet Man" McKay) had a setting target so I changed the NM05 start time to 01:23 instead of 00:10. NM05's target was at a better airmass at the later time anyway (and if Drew wanted it at 00:10 he should have bribed me with more cookies and given me less power). The weather was being naughty and we had high clouds and poor seeing all night. I was clearly naughty, given that Santa did not bring any presents, but that should come as no surprise. None of Santa's deer made an appearance either, but that also meant our spectra weren't contaminated by red light. There was, however, a flock of turkeys. I pulled the corner too slow and just missed having 3 birds for Christmas dinner. Merry Christmas! ----------------- Said the obs spec to the Misty Bentz "Do you see what I see? Way up in the sky, little Bentz, Do you see what I see? A star, a star, dancing in the night But the clouds are here out of spite And the clouds are here out of spite." Said the little Bentz to the comet boy, "Do you hear what I hear? Ringing through the sky, comet boy, Do you hear what I hear? It's strong, it's strong high above the trees Makes a tail so big you can see, A space wind as fast as the c. Said the comet boy to the CCD, "Do you know what I know? In your voltage walls, CCD, Do you know what I know? A charge, a charge sitting in the hold-- Let us keep it reading and cold, Let us keep it reading and cold." Said the .fits to the people everywhere, "Listen to what I say! Gray at APO, came I there, Listen to what I say! The scope, the scope slewing in the night She will bring us science and light, She will bring us science and light. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 17:34 dcamera 494( 461) -10 52 3.1 5.0 5.1 4.8 3.6 -- 1.41 22:32 ecamera 395( -607) 185 34 3.0 2.5 3.0 2.6 3.0 ND1 1.76 01:27 ecamera 374( -613) 349 55 3.3 3.1 3.6 3.5 3.4 clear 1.15 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 42 10 11 242 (WSW) 376 mstly clr none 17:00 38 7 8 216 (SW) 457 mstly clr none 18:00 37 7 11 242 (WSW) 371 ptly cldy none 19:00 37 6 13 204 (SSW) 446 ptly cldy none 20:00 37 6 13 222 (SW) 460 ptly cldy none 21:00 36 6 11 268 (W) 630 ptly cldy none 22:00 38 6 9 253 (WSW) 629 ptly cldy none 23:00 37 6 13 240 (WSW) 606 ptly cldy none 00:00 37 6 17 238 (WSW) 608 ptly cldy none 01:00 38 8 15 271 (W) 508 ptly cldy none 02:00 39 8 20 274 (W) 444 ptly cldy none 03:00 39 8 22 278 (W) 495 ptly cldy none 04:00 38 9 25 278 (W) 333 ptly cldy none 05:00 40 9 22 272 (W) 297 ptly cldy none 06:00 39 8 14 272 (W) 345 ptly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
