Clear, calm, subarcsecond seeing! If only the echelle problems hadn't cropped up. When NM05 started we noticed that we weren't seeing any stars on ecam. Turns out the shutter wasn't responding. It took us a while to trouble shoot and make a work around. By then NM05 lost all their time and JH03 lost half an hour of theirs (a PR was sent). However, JH03 was very generous and took an exposure of NM05's target. Additionally ecam stopped taking exposures after exposure 1231 (04:10 am) and I had to turn it off and on from obs 1 before it would respond. No problems noticed with the dome doors today. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- NM05/JH03 E I/H 00:10 01:10 ecam shutter not responding ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 17:35 dcamera 411( 547) 51 38 6.8 8.2 7.8 7.8 6.8 -- 1.47 18:28 NICFPS 377( 948) 227 74 7.8 7.4 7.4 7.0 7.7 H2-2.12 0.61 19:33 NICFPS 417( 1060) 239 63 9.4 8.2 8.5 8.2 9.1 MK-Ks 0.85 21:51 NICFPS 437( 1058) 159 48 9.1 8.1 8.6 8.1 8.8 H2-2.12 0.79 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 45 27 8 277 (W) 132 clear none 17:00 43 26 2 252 (WSW) 129 clear none 18:00 43 12 8 355 (N) 54 clear none 19:00 49 9 8 355 (N) 58 clear none 20:00 48 16 2 333 (NNW) 110 clear none 21:00 47 21 8 353 (N) 140 clear none 22:00 49 25 6 5 (N) 128 clear none 23:00 48 25 6 350 (N) 129 clear none 00:00 47 20 2 303 (WNW) 91 clear none 01:00 47 25 4 319 (NW) 140 clear none 02:00 48 25 5 273 (W) 125 clear none 03:00 47 24 3 251 (WSW) 144 clear none 04:00 46 22 3 205 (SSW) 140 clear none 05:00 46 28 7 236 (SW) 122 clear none 06:00 46 24 8 236 (SW) 91 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
