The weather was cloudy and wet all night. There was no hope of opening. For engineering, zeroed the rotator (-0.215 offset) and reset the axes controllers. I ran dis through a ton of rotation angles and changed the gratings back and forth between bays 1 and 2 in an attempt to isolate why we sometimes have a misalignment. Based on tonights work, misalignments seemed to be triggered at angle -90, but not all the time, and I only saw it occur with grating 1. The detent numbers count up with each motion of the grating turret but when the value drops below the previous detent value that seems to indicate a misalignment. I wrote engineering as lost due to weather since we did not open, even though I was working with DIS. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 48 32 12 216 (SW) 116 cloudy none 17:00 47 32 8 213 (SSW) 146 cloudy none 18:00 46 33 14 225 (SW) 155 cloudy none 19:00 46 33 8 252 (WSW) 166 cloudy none 20:00 46 33 14 266 (W) 160 cloudy lt rain 21:00 46 33 18 266 (W) 155 cloudy lt rain 22:00 45 32 13 283 (WNW) 293 cloudy humid 23:00 44 31 15 266 (W) 156 cloudy lt rain 00:00 40 36 13 263 (W) 396 cloudy rain 01:00 38 38 12 279 (W) cloudy rain 02:00 37 37 9 290 (WNW) cloudy rain 03:00 37 37 9 295 (WNW) cloudy rain 04:00 36 35 9 284 (WNW) cloudy rain Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
