PR submitted. Just an axis restart fixed. I adjusted the NA1 pointing for the echelle, the stars for the past two days have been landing on the upper right edge. Much better now. We did see one case where the telescope failed to slew, I asked the observer to simply re-slew and that worked. I think there have been other instances where I actually had to re-init the axis though, but I did not test simply re-issuing the slew command. I reset the alt drive controller at instrument change for 2nd half, per Fritz recommendation. After the reset, none of the drives moved. axis stop/init and then reslew fixed the problem. When my observer slewed to their first object I saw a fiducial error on the alt axis. I did a track slew down to 20 deg and then up to 80. The 80 deg slew failed at the start with a motion error. We had maybe 4-5 drive problems tonight. We closed at 02:17 due to clouds. We did not open the remainder of the night, due to clouds. I gave up at 05:00 ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 17:30 dcamera 474( 783) 76 78 9.2 12.1 11.5 12.2 9.9 -- 0.83 18:52 ecamera 264( -393) 25 49 8.1 9.5 9.6 9.1 8.3 clear 1.70 00:27 tcamera 532( 891) 17 60 9.9 9.0 9.4 9.0 9.6 Ks 0.95 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 53 27 10 232 (SW) 314 mstly clr none 17:00 49 27 1 198 (SSW) 273 mstly clr none 18:00 48 24 1 161 (SSE) 249 mstly clr none 19:00 48 26 2 174 (S) 340 ptly cldy none 20:00 49 26 5 183 (S) 378 ptly cldy none 21:00 50 27 8 188 (S) 461 ptly cldy none 22:00 50 30 9 202 (SSW) 581 mstly cldy none 23:00 50 28 7 185 (S) 539 mstly cldy none 00:00 48 28 12 182 (S) 428 mstly cldy none 01:00 50 29 13 181 (S) 445 mstly cldy none 02:00 50 28 14 197 (SSW) 465 mstly cldy none 03:00 48 28 13 206 (SSW) 475 mstly cldy none 04:00 48 30 16 197 (SSW) 565 mstly cldy none 05:00 48 32 15 197 (SSW) 563 mstly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
