We could not open due to wind above limits, from Bill, until around 23:30 tonight. Unfortunately I saw ice on the lightning rods on the enclosure at sunset. I opened around 23:45 (first program had already given up, no time left for useful data) When switching to DIS, the Secondary mirror started exhibiting problems moving correctly. After an hour and a half troubleshooting and a couple of phone calls to Russet and Bill, Russet resolved the problem as the secondary mirror controller needing to be restarted (as well as the secondary mirror needing to be homed, which I had already done previously in an attempt to correct the problem). I had to close at 02:30 due to winds increasing above 15MPH again. I re-opened at 05:00 and stayed open the remainder of the night. I left the telescope at 82 deg alt for APOLLO work during the day. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- NM06 D T/S 00:10 01:30 Secondary mirror err/Home/ Controller restart ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 22 15 7 356 (N) 204 mstly clr none 17:00 22 -1 10 6 (N) 149 clear none 18:00 23 -13 20 32 (NNE) 116 clear none 19:00 23 -12 13 42 (NE) 122 clear none 20:00 27 -21 8 351 (N) 206 clear none 21:00 26 -6 19 329 (NNW) 128 clear none 22:00 26 0 1 328 (NNW) 113 clear none 23:00 26 6 4 301 (WNW) 167 clear none 00:00 26 6 9 317 (NW) 124 clear none 01:00 26 14 15 311 (NW) 189 clear none 02:00 25 16 13 319 (NW) 221 clear none 03:00 26 15 15 327 (NNW) 241 clear none 04:00 27 12 15 344 (NNW) 309 clear none 05:00 26 11 10 315 (NW) 279 clear none 06:00 25 15 8 298 (WNW) 341 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
