Humudty started climbing just after twilight. Humidity went over the limits around 18:45, just as the skies were clearing. We found the dark slide just in the frame of AGILE flats. Somebody must have bumped the dark slide and not realized it. I ran more ARCTIC cold weather shutter tests while we were closed. Outside air temps was -11.2C (although we were closed, unlike last nights tests) for a while so I ran some tests at that temp. Encl temp was being reported at -9.0C. Tonight (while closed) I used the dim quartz truss lamps with ARCTIC off the telescope. This worked very well for determining shutter failure with the resulting image. The temperatures rose during the night so early evening were the only times I could do this test. At the end of the night the telescope got stuck (motion error) at 61.3 deg Alt. It would not move under TUI control. It also refused to move via talk2boxes. I reset the alt controller. That reset the position (which I also set back). The telescope still refused to move in ALt. PR submitte. Telescope left parked at 104,61.3 ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 21:34 AGILE 666(-2313) 34 50 -9.7 -8.6 -7.8 -8.7 -0.1 BG40 1.80 00:28 AGILE 816(-2258) -40 67 -9.0 -10.1 -9.7 -10.1 -0.1 BG40 1.60 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 19 8 5 288 (WNW) mstly cldy none 17:00 19 9 2 1 (N) ptly cldy none 18:00 17 9 2 293 (WNW) ptly cldy none 19:00 13 9 13 65 (ENE) mstly clr humid 20:00 12 9 13 72 (ENE) clear humid 21:00 12 8 17 63 (ENE) clear none 22:00 16 7 12 7 (N) clear none 23:00 14 0 7 348 (NNW) clear none 00:00 14 -7 23 65 (ENE) clear none 01:00 13 -8 15 358 (N) clear none 02:00 17 -1 23 53 (NE) clear none 03:00 18 -1 14 27 (NNE) clear none 04:00 20 -2 15 34 (NE) clear none 05:00 22 -2 16 21 (NNE) clear none 06:00 22 -4 14 34 (NE) clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
