Seemed to be working down to -10.4C tonight with no problems but it failed at -11.2C. Looks like it failed to close at -11.2C as the resulting images were all saturated. Had an issue when we changed gratings at the start of the 2nd half. Email sent to the Engineering staff with details. Clouds started rolling in around 04:00, they became too thick for observations around 04:30. We stayed open since there didn't seem to be a precipitation threat and it was very cold outside. We closed at 05:33 (we could have closed earlier but waited until we sure the weather was going to stay cloudy). Temps were at -12.3C at this point as well. Looks like we also had some computer network issues at the end of the night. PR submitted. I took another wavecal at the very end of the night (I had inverted DIS twice and left it inverted for the flat. The line looked to still be in the proper position, so it appears that inverting doesn't cause an issue. Tomorrow afternoon I will check moving the turret and see what affect that has. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:53 dcamera 659( -138) 144 62 -7.7 -5.8 -5.7 -5.6 -0.1 -- 1.35 00:01 dcamera 791( -96) -135 50 -7.1 -7.7 -7.1 -7.7 -0.1 -- 1.80 01:20 NA2gdr -2002(31997) 72 47 -7.8 -8.2 -7.7 -8.2 -0.1 clear 3.00 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 20 4 5 307 (NW) 97 clear none 17:00 20 5 13 329 (NNW) 88 clear none 18:00 18 5 1 308 (NW) 92 clear none 19:00 18 5 4 336 (NNW) 89 clear none 20:00 17 6 7 330 (NNW) 89 clear none 21:00 19 8 10 269 (W) 135 clear none 22:00 19 7 7 269 (W) 94 clear none 23:00 20 9 10 258 (WSW) 148 clear none 00:00 19 8 5 253 (WSW) 203 clear none 01:00 18 8 6 182 (S) 180 clear none 02:00 16 7 8 181 (S) 162 mstly clr none 03:00 16 6 9 160 (SSE) 178 mstly clr none 04:00 16 6 3 152 (SSE) 165 ptly cldy none 05:00 11 5 11 102 (ESE) 178 cloudy none 06:00 10 2 11 83 (E) cloudy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
