During OU03 we had an error with an axes but it was unclear which one. While the observer was making offsets the telescope refused to slew giving the error: "Slew failed: Sub-command(s) failed: DRIFT: Timed out" After multiple attempts of axes inits with and without a stop button, logging in to talk2boxes shows that all axes were responding properly. After closing out of talk2boxes, disengaging a stop button, and initializing the axes, we had no further problems. A ToO was engaged tonight by UW02 and took over the UW09 program. However, they didn't need the full time and we began engineering time after 03:14 am. We conducted an instrument block for ARCTIC during EN01. There was an issue mounting ARCTIC which was later found to be a power cable to the shutter becoming wedged between the instrument and rotator. The power cable was wrapped around the ARCTIC cart and had to be unplugged, causing shutter errors. Once the shutter was restarted we were able to continue with the instrument block. Too tired for poems tonight, but, if you’ve never heard of the video game “Portal” you should check it out, there might be a reference tomorrow… ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- OU03 N T/U 18:33 18:56 Axes not responding ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 01:29 dcamera 480( 140) 207 75 3.4 3.2 3.8 3.3 3.2 -- 1.18 04:28 arctic 797( 537) 138 72 2.7 1.9 2.4 1.8 0.8 sdss-r 0.94 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 44 16 11 256 (WSW) 263 ptly cldy none 17:00 42 7 20 270 (W) 270 ptly cldy none 18:00 40 11 20 244 (WSW) 250 ptly cldy none 19:00 39 13 15 263 (W) 240 ptly cldy none 20:00 39 16 19 257 (WSW) 342 ptly cldy none 21:00 40 12 14 272 (W) 288 mstly clr none 22:00 40 13 20 255 (WSW) 354 ptly cldy none 23:00 40 12 17 252 (WSW) 320 ptly cldy none 00:00 39 12 16 264 (W) 343 ptly cldy none 01:00 39 13 14 249 (WSW) 341 mstly clr none 02:00 38 12 13 258 (WSW) 362 clear none 03:00 37 13 13 252 (WSW) 348 clear none 04:00 36 14 11 258 (WSW) 343 clear none 05:00 37 12 15 262 (W) 317 clear none 06:00 37 13 15 265 (W) 281 mstly clr none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
