Clear skies, no wind, no humidity, sub arc second seeing, and not moth problems! There were a few problems with ARCTIC. The instrument was fine at check out but when AD01 went to start their biases the instrument would not respond. I had to do an ICC restart. This was conducted before AD01 started so there was no time lost. However, there was no filter wheel in place and I did not notice this until UW02 program started when we tried moving to different filters. I was not informed that the filter wheel had been removed but I should have noticed the lack of a filter in the beam path when I mounting ARCTIC. AD01 took dome flats and they informed me that the data should be OK. Tspec did not improve with a power cycle The objects for NM03 set before twilight began and they donated their remaining time to UW02 who are on site being trained (S.Mahadeven, G.Stefanson) and working with ARCTIC. We discovered that ARCTIC does a fabulous job with white light photometry! ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 03:09 arctic 705( 1051) 219 45 14.4 13.4 14.1 13.6 13.8 860 0.69 19:36 ecamera 825( 109) 105 72 16.3 16.5 16.5 15.7 15.9 clear 0.75 23:25 arctic 700( 1125) 41 80 15.3 14.8 15.2 14.7 14.7 SDSS-r 0.72 01:23 ecamera 783( 37) 229 27 15.6 15.2 15.7 15.2 15.4 clear 1.10 01:23 ecamera 783( 37) 229 27 15.6 15.2 15.7 15.2 15.4 clear 1.10 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 70 32 8 267 (W) 339 clear none 17:00 65 25 13 305 (NW) 356 clear none 18:00 64 24 12 302 (WNW) 325 clear none 19:00 62 24 4 277 (W) 338 clear none 20:00 61 22 4 309 (NW) 362 clear none 21:00 61 18 4 333 (NNW) 348 clear none 22:00 59 19 7 266 (W) 326 clear none 23:00 61 20 6 277 (W) 318 clear none 00:00 59 21 5 254 (WSW) 319 clear none 01:00 61 23 6 240 (WSW) 322 clear none 02:00 58 23 7 259 (W) 409 clear none 03:00 60 24 8 252 (WSW) 378 clear none 04:00 61 24 5 265 (W) 405 clear none 05:00 61 23 6 261 (W) 260 mstly clr none 06:00 61 22 5 264 (W) 240 mstly clr none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
