We flew with Mav-style observing tonight: Danger Zone. The sky was raining and cloudy all day but cleared up an hour before sunset. There was very high high humidity after sunset but, as soon as it dropped to safe levels, we went on sky and found good seeing! It was cloudy and humidity was almost always at the border line, but we were able to punch through it for most of the A half. However, humidity went up to 90% at the B half transition and we remained closed the rest of the night. There was no chance of reopening as rain and fog rolled it at 4am and NA02 needed at least one hour on clear sky. NICFPS did not fill properly yesterday morning (we suspect an ice plug due to the humidity) which resulted in the instrument warming to ~102. Slower fills seem to have solved the problem. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:36 ecamera 743( -20) 131 61 12.8 15.4 15.1 15.2 15.0 clear 1.04 21:39 ecamera 740( -80) 177 77 10.9 14.5 14.0 14.2 13.9 clear 1.10 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 60 52 6 208 (SSW) mstly cldy none 17:00 57 51 9 240 (WSW) ptly cldy none 18:00 61 51 4 239 (WSW) ptly cldy none 19:00 57 52 4 203 (SSW) mstly clr humid 20:00 52 50 8 94 (E) clear humid 21:00 50 49 7 94 (E) mstly clr none 22:00 53 43 6 184 (S) mstly clr none 23:00 52 42 7 162 (SSE) ptly cldy none 00:00 52 43 8 181 (S) cloudy none 01:00 50 45 14 159 (SSE) cloudy humid 02:00 50 47 16 155 (SSE) cloudy humid 03:00 50 49 8 190 (S) cloudy rain 04:00 50 50 9 183 (S) cloudy rain Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
