Seeing was good. I did some engineering during first half. While closed, I checked out ARCTIC and found that the strong ramp we were seeing in bias images is gone, perhaps because we are running the instrument a few degrees warmer. When the clouds eased up and I was able to open, I tested DIS on sky. The contamination on the red side is very bad but it looks about the same as Thursday, so hopefully it has stopped getting worse. I was also able to confirm good agreement between the spectrographs and the slitviewer on what the telescope focus should be. After that it was time for science. Adler had mostly clear skies and the final program struggled with a variety of clouds but never had to stop taking data. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 22:06 dcamera 591( 1018) 104 36 16.7 17.8 18.1 17.9 17.3 - 1.22 00:19 arctic 685( 1157) 44 49 15.7 16.0 16.6 16.0 15.9 r 0.65 02:33 dcamera 687( 945) 28 48 14.5 14.7 15.3 14.6 14.6 - 1.23 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 64 46 10 194 (SSW) cloudy lt rain 17:00 64 48 8 209 (SSW) cloudy rain 18:00 70 47 7 185 (S) cloudy none 19:00 65 46 7 154 (SSE) mstly cldy none 20:00 64 46 8 175 (S) mstly cldy none 21:00 63 46 7 165 (SSE) ptly cldy none 22:00 62 46 12 144 (SE) mstly clr none 23:00 62 45 17 152 (SSE) mstly clr none 00:00 60 45 13 128 (SE) mstly clr none 01:00 60 47 16 151 (SSE) mstly clr none 02:00 59 50 12 183 (S) mstly clr none 03:00 58 50 11 186 (S) ptly cldy none 04:00 57 50 9 199 (SSW) ptly cldy none 05:00 57 50 11 223 (SW) ptly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
