I noticed it off a little last night but not as much as it seemed tonight. Not sure why as the instrument was not dismounted. I will check the wheel in the morning, maybe it is a little loose or something. I took a new slit mask for the 1.5 arc sec slit today and temporarily moved the boresight. We saw the slit move slightly during the course of the first half. My guess is the wheel nut is not tight enough. I checked the nut and wheel and it seemed secure. I would next suggest checking the slit is tight, but I did not have time during the instrument change to check that as it required removal of the slit wheel. With NA2 guiding for Arctic we observed a drift. It appeared that the guider did not correctly centroid on the star but was shifted slightly when the guiding started (the green circle ID'ing the star was correctly centered). This caused the next couple of guide images to move to where the NA2 guider thought the star center should be for guiding. See NA2 guider images g0779-g0788. This caused motion in the resulting ARCTIC image due to the guider movement. Once the star was centered where the guider thought it should be guiding was rock solid. After a few minutes of trying a few things and restarting the nubs a few times, an 'arctic init' did the trick. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:12 dcamera 324( 925) 28 62 19.6 21.6 21.5 21.4 20.7 -- 1.20 00:23 arctic 389( 975) -153 56 18.5 18.3 18.9 18.1 18.2 sdss r 0.70 00:25 NA2gdr 4226(34226) -153 56 18.2 18.3 18.8 18.1 18.2 R 0.90 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 71 36 10 348 (NNW) 478 clear none 17:00 73 36 13 298 (WNW) 533 clear none 18:00 71 35 13 301 (WNW) 549 clear none 19:00 72 33 7 269 (W) 538 mstly clr none 20:00 69 33 3 256 (WSW) 617 mstly clr none 21:00 67 30 10 290 (WNW) 605 clear none 22:00 66 30 5 322 (NW) 618 clear none 23:00 66 33 6 198 (SSW) 686 clear none 00:00 65 34 1 228 (SW) 745 clear none 01:00 65 34 1 349 (N) 790 clear none 02:00 66 31 8 22 (NNE) 791 clear none 03:00 66 31 12 33 (NNE) 722 clear none 04:00 65 31 13 55 (NE) 722 clear none 05:00 64 33 14 51 (NE) 546 clear none 06:00 64 34 15 59 (ENE) 497 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
