Ted worked on getting things set up on Obs 3 for himself for the Monday night run, in case we are still working bugs out of the new obs 1. ARCTIC standards first thing tonight. Feige 34 in 6 filters (we forgot to home the wheel, filter SDSS g is actually Halpha, SDSS r is actually SDSS u. Filters were mounted ugriz, halpha We did throughput using Feige66, BD28, and PG1708. Note: contamination effect on red chip. I mounted ARCTIC and turned the telescope over for the Adler program. (they gave us the 2300-00:00 time slot and we gave them the 01:00-02:00 time slot to finish the DIS throughput measurements, since it was photometric and kind of important to us. After Adler I let Ted use the telescope for about 30 mins to test out his Obs 3 account was working by taking some images of Uranus (see uranus image 41 for the planet and several of it's moon in the same field). This allowed Ted to verify he could use TUI on Obs 3, focus (Use IRAF) and things just worked in general for him in case he needs to use it as a fallback computer on Monday. I then had Ted start the blind tracking tests, as we had some clouds in the area and run it from Obs 3. This was a good choice as Obs 1 decided to turn on the screen saver and it wouldn't then turn off. I moved the mouse and pressed the keys on the keyboard to not much effect. I don't know what magical key combo I finally pressed but I luckily managed to somehow exit the screen saver. I immediately went into the preferences and disabled it. Ted took care of the blind tracking tests while I spent several minutes trying to get Obs1 to come back. The tracking data is located in the obs directory in the subdir tracking. We used the SDSS r filter for these. Apollo used the last part of the night. They struggled with clouds and gave up a few minutes early. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 21:12 dcamera 525( 929) -105 25 16.1 17.1 17.7 16.7 16.4 -- 1.60 21:53 dcamera 575( 915) 100 45 15.4 16.2 16.9 15.8 15.8 -- 1.40 23:08 arctic 640( 1075) 210 54 15.3 15.3 16.0 15.2 15.1 SDSS r 1.00 04:19 APOLLO 600( 1802) 87 36 15.9 15.4 15.7 15.5 15.7 -- 2.00 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 73 36 15 34 (NE) mstly clr none 17:00 71 36 10 30 (NNE) mstly clr none 18:00 70 37 8 76 (ENE) mstly clr none 19:00 68 40 4 65 (ENE) mstly clr none 20:00 65 42 7 87 (E) mstly clr none 21:00 63 43 8 92 (E) clear none 22:00 61 46 12 111 (ESE) clear none 23:00 60 49 14 121 (ESE) clear none 00:00 60 49 8 84 (E) clear none 01:00 59 50 12 88 (E) ptly cldy none 02:00 56 50 14 120 (ESE) ptly cldy none 03:00 58 48 10 105 (ESE) ptly cldy none 04:00 60 41 10 91 (E) ptly cldy none 05:00 61 35 11 85 (E) ptly cldy none 06:00 61 36 5 87 (E) ptly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
